A little about the author:

Emily Liebert
is an award-winning, internationally published writer and the author of Facebook Fairytales: Modern-Day Miracles to Inspire the Human Spirit—her debut book. Her first novel, Conversations with Friends, is soon to follow.

Liebert edited Kerry Kennedy’s New York Times best-seller Being Catholic Now: Prominent Americans Talk About Change in the Church and the Quest for Meaning (Crown/Random House 2008). She’s also written for such publications as, Elite Traveler, Robb Report, Gotham, and Cottages & Gardens and has interviewed a long list of celebrities and high-profile subjects, including: Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, Chevy Chase, Marlo Thomas, James Earl Jones, and Facebook Founder/CEO, Mark Zuckerberg.

A graduate of Smith College, Liebert was Editor-in-Chief of The WAG magazine for five years and, prior to that, worked for ABC NEWS’ Peter Jennings Reporting.

Most recently, Liebert was honored at Literary Feast 2010—among Russell Banks, Elizabeth Kostova, and Lisa See—as one of 21 of today’s most distinguished authors. She’s also received the Clarion Gold Award in Magazine Journalism and has made regular television and radio appearances.

Currently, Liebert is hard at work developing sequels to Facebook Fairytales.

A little about the book:

With over 400 million users around the globe, Facebook has given birth to a vast and intricate web of personal connections, bringing people together and transforming lives in unimaginable ways. But what comes of these hundreds of millions of connections?

Emily Liebert’s new book, Facebook Fairytales: Modern-Day Miracles to Inspire the Human Spirit is filled with captivating narratives of 25 real-life stories culled from interviews with Facebook users who’ve used the site's many applications to find—for example—an organ donor, biological parents, to relay messages to loved ones during the Mumbai terrorist attacks, and to save a teenager’s life across an ocean.

Additionally, Facebook Fairytales features a foreword with the typically press-shy founder & CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, and a subsequent interview with co-founder Chris Hughes, who relays his fascinating story of running Barack Obama’s social media campaign—which the president credits as playing a large role in his victory.

From personal triumphs to business feats to political coups, Facebook Fairytales highlights an intriguing range of modern-day “miracles” made possible by the elaborate domino effect of social networking. It reminds all of us that the resilience of the human spirit is truly powerful, even online.
