Be sure to book your photographer (preferably me..;) ) after your venue! This is so you already have a date as well as a place where photos would be taken.
- First is first.... be SURE you LOVE (not just like) their style of photography! DON'T SETTLE!
- Do your research on the photographer.... get referrals.
- Make sure to see pricing up front so there are no surprises after the wedding is said and done, and you don't receive an invoice stating you owe $xxxx.
- Ask about the Albums they offer and to see examples. Your album will be the FIRST heirloom you create and take with you for the rest of your lives! It may not seem important now, but 10-20 even 50 years from now, you'll be glad you took the time to create it.
- When meeting the photographer, be sure your personalities click. (No pun intended) You will be spending the ENTIRE wedding day with this person, so be sure its someone as fun and down to earth as you are. Nothing worse than having to pose for a moody photographer. I can imagine what those photos would look like.
The BIGGEST mistake you can make when hiring a photographer..... Sacrificing quality for budget. MANY couples go with a cheaper photographer to save money and yet in the long run.... they end up regretting not having someone to do the job right! It is your special day.... the time and effort that goes into all the details (dress, hair, decor, venue) will happen for ONE day. In the end, the photos will be the ONLY thing you have to look back on your day. Do you really want to trust capturing your moments to just anyone?

So true!! If I could go back and do my wedding all over, literally the only thing I would change is who I hired as my photographer. None of my images are displayed in my home, my husband & I have no portraits of ourselves together, and my wedding day memories are gone to pot because I didn't hire a professional!!
